I'm Laura Pincock, the founder of the Nutri Low Down. I'm a mum of one little boy and I'm passionate about changing the nutrition and weight loss industry by ensuring that I educate you in nutrition providing you with the knowledge to sustain your results. 

For years during my twenties and early thirties I bounced from one crazy diet to another (Slimming World,  Cambridge, Juice Diets, 5:2, 1200 calories a day) in the search of reaching a goal weight. Often I would get to where I wanted to be only to gain it back later. During that time I always had a slightly unhealthy relationship with food and I would binge eat as a reward or when I felt down or emotional. 

When I got pregnant with my son my mindset changed, I no longer cared what the scales said, I just wanted to be healthy to help nourish my growing baby. I also realised that I needed to change my attitude to food and to my body, ensuring that I had balance. I started to focus on good nutrition, eating healthier and focussing on putting better foods and nutrients in to my body that was miraculously growing my baby boy. Post pregnancy I was breastfeeding so focused on consuming healthy foods and giving my body good levels of nutrition and just ate intuitively – it was like I’d hit the reset button and without really trying lost weight. I didn’t give myself a hard time about losing weight and didn’t set any targets for when I would get to where I wanted to be. When my son was around 9 months old I started to track my food and slowly introduced a purposeful calorie deficit, continuing to lose weight at around 0.5-1lbs a week. Nowadays if I want a type of food, I eat it but ensure that it fits my daily calorie goal, I don’t deprive myself and then binge later because I'm craving it. I have balance, I have a healthy attitude towards food and dieting and I feel so much better for it. 

I feel frustrated that I spent years yoyo-ing rather than being healthy, feeding and nurturing my body. I no longer suffer from migraines and mouth ulcers that plagued me when I wasn’t sufficiently fueling my body. I consume around 2000 calories a day and I’m still losing fat. 

I move more – I’m active and I get my heart pumping walking. I try and fit in short gym sessions when I can doing weights and some cardio but I mainly do lots of walking aiming for at least 10,000 steps per day. 

While I was on maternity leave from my corporate role I decided to retrain and chose to focus on something that I am passionate about, qualifying as a Nutrition & Weight Management Advisor. I’ve also got a degree in Psychology & Sociology, so understand the behaviors and emotions that people can have with food.
